Thinking of Others

Writer's picture: Pastor JimPastor Jim

And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month in shifts: they were one month in Lebanon and two months at home; Adoniram was in charge of the labor force.

‭‭I Kings‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I love the way Solomon did things. He thought things through and made a plan. He didn’t just think about what was best for him, but for others, too.

Instead of just sending 30,000 workers to Lebanon to get what he wanted as soon as possible, he created rotating shifts. For every month the workers were away from home they were two months at home. This way they felt valued and could perform well for the long haul. It was sustainable.

Like Solomon, it’s important for me to think about how my decisions affect others. It’s not all about me.

Think of others.

Father, Make me aware of how my words and actions impact others. Make me a blessing today. Amen.
