Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,”
Hebrews 3:7-8 NKJV
I love the word, ‘today’. Today is today. This promise is current. It is relevant. It is new for me today. I can hear His voice today.
This passage is talking about Moses in the wilderness. He had a ‘today’ and he heard God’s voice. It is quoting Psalm 95. The psalmist, back in David’s day, heard a fresh word from the Lord for his ‘today’. The writer of Hebrews is applying that word of ‘today’ to Jesus and to his early readers. It applies to me TODAY as I read and apply this eternal word of God.
I want to hear His voice today. Today! Speak to me, Lord. I will not harden my heart but will listen with obedience. Amen.
