S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

Psalms 9:15 (NKJV) The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

The prologue to this verse, in verse 1, says, “To the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David.

David may not have known it, but what an appropriate tune for a Messianic psalm! This psalm is all about victories that Jesus, the Son, secured through His death. Hallelujah!

Verse 15 gives insight into our own nation today. We see time and time again an evil (or at least misguided) ungodly philosophy embraced and advanced and have predictably disastrous consequences.

A small child has to learn there are consequences to actions. If you touch the hot stove you will be burned. A child is able to learn these lessons but our ‘leaders’ are not.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

I remember as a kid there was a game show called ‘Truth or Consequences’. That about sums it up.

The evil that is done, by me or another individual or even a nation, ultimately spreads a net that will trip you up.

Truth is it’s own reward. Right living is it’s own reward. Wickedness is it’s own penalty.

It is FAR better to live in truth than to deal with the consequences.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Father, I trust in Your Word. I choose to direct my life by its instruction. Lead me with Your Holy Spirit. Correct falsehood in me. Amen.

Jim, there is DEFINITELY only one YOU! Who else could have gotten that message from that passage, and have thought of Lazarus eating his cereal as well? You are definitely an original, and that's one of the very reasons we appreciate you so much. 😊 Thanks for sharing your unique perspective with us.
