SCRIPTURE:
When she looked, there was the king standing by a pillar according to custom; and the leaders and the trumpeters were by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. So Athaliah tore her clothes and cried out, “Treason! Treason!”
II Kings 11:14 NKJV
OBSERVATION:
The Queen Mother, Athaliah, had stolen the throne and was ruling wickedly. When her evil plan, which was itself treason, came to an end she called the restoration treason.
APPLICATION:
When you live in a wicked culture, righteousness is called evil. Standing for truth is called treason. That’s just part of living in an upside-down world.
PRAYER:
Jesus, You we’re out of sorts in an evil world. Show me how to live in mine. Amen.
