What and When

Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.”

‭‭John‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Therefore they sought to take Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

John 7:30 NKJV

These two verses both deal with timing, but in different ways. The first was to Jesus’ brothers who basically said, “Go ahead and show Yourself now.” The second verse was about His enemies who were unable to force their will on Him.

Timing matters. God is a God of timing.

Obedience requieres not just the question, “What do I do?” But also, “When”. Am I sensitive to God’s timing?

The same action can be either courageous obedience or outright sin based on timing. (Numbers 14:8-10, 39-42)

Lord, Help me to be sensitive to the ‘what’ and to the ‘when’.
