Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ”
Exodus 4:1 NKJV
Moses’ response to the Lord was ‘suppose’ or ‘what if’. When God said to Moses, “Here’s the assignment I have for you…”, Moses immediately went into ‘what if’ mode.
What if I’m not accepted? What if my message isn’t popular? What if it’s too scary? What if it’s too hard? What if it hurts me? What if it costs me? What if I’m not successful? What if they don’t like me? What if I fail?
Moses’ mission was nearly derailed by ‘what if’. When God gives me an assignment there is no ‘what if’ about it. It’s all about obedience and trust. The process and outcome is entirely up to Him.
“Yes, Lord!”
Jesus, May I never be held back by ‘what if’. Amen.
