“But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the Lord our God,’ is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar’?”
’Have I now come up without the Lord against this land to destroy it? The Lord said to me, ‘Go up against this land, and destroy it.’ ”
Isaiah 36:7, 10 NKJV
Here we see the same kind of deception that is present in our day.
Notice Hezekiah tore down the high places because they were used for idolatry. He did it because of his love for God and in obedience to Him. Now that very thing was being used to suggest he didn’t love God because he tore down places of worship. Classic.
Then, the guy who came to destroy God’s people, claims that God is on his side. That God told him to destroy Jerusalem.
These things sound a whole lot like our political candidates in this election time. Both are claiming God and ‘right’ is on their side. It happens every four years. God can take care of His own business.
Don’t believe everything you hear. Liars lie, it’s what they do. I will trust in the Lord with all my heart.
Jesus, Show Yourself strong in our elections this year. Expose lies. Amen!
