Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:12 NKJV
The reward spoken by Jesus is a reward in heaven. There may be absolutely no reward on earth. None was promised. For this promise to be fulfilled heaven must be a real place.
People are impatient by nature. Many of us do our good deed and then ask, “Where’s my reward? Where’s my blessing for following Jesus?” It wasn’t promised here.
How much greater will it be to get rewards in heaven then rewards on earth?
Jesus, I thank You for Your Word and Your promised heavenly reward. Amen.
