And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”
John 1:21 NKJV
This verse interests me because Jesus told His disciples that John was Elijah (Matt 17:11-13). Maybe John didn’t even realize he was the fulfillment of Malachi 4:5. Whether he realized it or not he perfectly fulfilled his role.
It is very easy to underestimate yourself. It is easy to not see the role you are playing in the kingdom of God. We all have a role to play. With simple daily obedience I will fulfill my role perfectly, whether I know fully what it is or not.
Father, Guide me into Your truth today. Amen.
