Yet Served Their Own Gods
They feared the Lord, yet served their own gods—according to the rituals of the nations from among whom they were carried away.
II Kings 17:33 NKJV
They feared the Lord yet served their own gods. That’s probably a very accurate description of the church today. There is a knowledge and a practice of serving the Lord, but in other ways the gods of this culture are also served: The flesh, Success, Comfort, Greed, etc.
It’s not sufficient to add God to my list of gods. He must be the one and only. What are the gods of this age and this culture? Have I allowed myself to also serve those gods?
Almighty God, reveal areas in my life where I am trusting in anyone or anything other than You. Amen.
