S // SCRIPTURE
Select a verse from today’s reading
Esther 6:6 (NKJV) So Haman came in, and the king asked him, “What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought in his heart, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?”
O // OBSERVATION
Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text
Haman came into the palace and the king asked him the best way to honor someone. Since Haman thought the king was talking about him, he concocted an over-the-top plan.
Imagine his surprise when the honor wasn’t for him but was for his greatest enemy and Haman had to carry out the plan for him.
If Haman had known beforehand that the honor was not for him but for Mordecai, imagine how different his answer would have been.
A // APPLICATION
How can I apply this to my life today?
Treat others, even your enemies, the way you would want to be treated.
When you’re wondering how to treat someone else, just put your face in their place. What would honor you? How would you want to be treated? Concoct a plan that you would be happy to receive then do it for someone else.
P // PRAYER
Express yourself in prayer
Jesus, You have treated me the way we should have treated You. Amen.
